Account activation

How to activate your new trade account

Your supplier is now using payments platform, Shift Trade, to offer you access to a trade account with flexible terms.

    1. Register to open an account

        As a director

Register online via your supplier’s online registration link. You’ll need:

        • An ABN
        • An Australian mobile number
        • One form of ID (Australian driver’s licence or passport)

On behalf of the director - As an operator/non-director of the business

To assist your director with getting started, follow the steps below:

        • Enter your details via the supplier’s online registration link
        • Shift will call you to complete the next steps tailored to your business needs (online registration or manual documentation)
        • Once you have assisted each director with their registration, please complete and send the third-party authorisation form to trade@shift.com.au.
    2. Activate your account

        As a director

Log in to Shift Trade to:

        • Connect a business bank account
        • Accept a facility agreement
        • Set up direct debit

On behalf of the director - As an operator/non-director of the business

Director must log in to Shift Trade to:

        • Connect a business bank account
        • Accept a facility agreement
        • Set up direct debit

Once the trade account is activated and we have received the third party authorisation form, the business operator/non-director now has access to act on the director’s behalf. This means they can manage customer accounts, process invoices and more.

    3. Use your new Trade Account

Once your account is activated, you are ready to trade with your supplier on terms.

Next time you place an order with your supplier, they will bill your Trade Account, you approve the invoice and Shift will pay them the next business day. Your bank account will then be direct debited at a later date according to the terms offered by your supplier.

Example (for an account on 14 day terms):

        • Your supplier offers you a 14 day trade account.
        • You order $5,000 of stock from your supplier today.
        • Your supplier bills your Trade Account and you approve the invoice in the platform. Your supplier receives payment from Shift and organises delivery of your stock.
        • Your bank account is direct debited for $5,000 in 14 days.

        Additional benefits

Your Trade Account offers a number of added benefits:

        • Extend the terms offered by your supplier by choosing your own terms to improve cash flow. A transaction fee applies when extending terms.
        • Manage payments to your other suppliers using your Trade Account. Your supplier does not need to have an account or a relationship with Shift Trade.
        • Get better terms with any supplier with an ABN (including the ATO).
        • No establishment or account keeping fees.

    Frequently asked questions

What if there’s more than one director in the business?

Each director of the business must complete digital registration to set up the trade account. As the business operator, you can invite all directors to complete registration once you’ve completed and sent the third-party authorisation form. If you’re a director of the business, you can invite other directors upon completion of registration.

Why do I need to connect my business bank account to Shift?

To process your application and provide you with a limit, we require you to connect your business bank account to your Shift account.

The credit limits we provide are based on your banking data. A bank connection is essential for suitable products and limits to be offered to you.
